DJ listened with interest as Ambrose told his story and she remembered the book that she had been reading before she was brought here by some unknown force.
“That’s just like the story”
She whispered thinking it over in her mind, how could there be a book out about this place and he not even know it if he had been here all this time? How come he had never tired to leave? How come there had never been any newspaper articles about the little town in the outback struck by a strange virus?
Surely some scientist would have been all over it reporting it to the news and spreading the word all over the world it wasn’t everyday a town was completely wiped out by a strange virus after all she thought.
Landon on the other hand had his eyes closed and wasn’t really too fazed about Ambrose’s story it didn’t seem to have him thinking in the least but he opened an eye when he heard the word disabled.
“Hang on a minute I might be stupid but I’m not disabled!”
He said with a grin before his eyes glanced at the wooden leg on Skop he stood up and looked at Ambrose and then at Skop and DJ who was looking away not wanting to be accused of staring as well.
“Dude wicked sweet leg man that’s like a deadly weapon customs can’t take away from ya radical!”
He said with a grin and nodded before walking to the sink and placing his empty glass down.

Jae continued to look around the room for a while taking deep calming breaths especially when Skop came back out into the room by the looks of it Iago was the one that brought him out he thought. Skop certainly didn’t look to happy about all of them finding out about his leg, but why Jae thought? Its nothing to be embarrassed about, the amount of people these days who have injuries like that and still live perfectly normal and happy lives.
In a way Jae thought that this injury was the cause behind they mans hostility but even so it wasn’t a good one he had seen many worse of then this man seemed to be and they were perfectly nice people and brilliant friends. Hey one of his ex boyfriends had been disabled confined to a wheelchair after his parents had died in a car crash with him in the car and he was the nicest person out there.
“If your ashamed of that and that is the reason you are so antisocial then you might want to get a reality check buddy, far worse of people are nicer then you probably ever will be”
Jae said in a calm tone as he stroked the monkey Mojo who was sitting in the counter beside Iago

Ambrose looked at DJ for a moment, hearing her whisper seeing that she was obviously troubled by what he had said. “What story?” he asked her, his own brow creasing slightly. He closed his eyes, cringing slightly when he heard Landon shamelessly blurt out the word disabled, and watched Skops head shoot around towards his direction. But instead of an uproar of curse words and threats he was sure would come, he cracked a small smile. It was the first emotion that Skop had expressed that wasn’t one of rage. He even felt his face flush a little as he realised that Skop was sort of handsome.
“It get’s me good parking too.” he shrugged. This guy seemed like a complete idiot, but at least he wasn’t like the others. The leg was made mainly of plastics and a long thin pole. The plastic part was secured to whatever was left of the leg above his knee. There was quite a bit of deep tissue scarring there. The pole was attached to it, and another part that acted like a heel, and foot. Which was hidden inside of a sneaker.
Whatever was left of the small smile vanished however when he heard the dark individual in the corner speak. He probably would never had realised he was there if he hadn’t spoken up he was so still.
He had already started to yell before he reached the young man. His anger, unchecked the words burst from his mouth before he even realised he was saying them. “Worse off? Worse off?! Nobody is better off than anyone if they are missing something like this! Have you ever lost a limb? Do you have any idea what it feels like when someone tells you that they have to take your leg? Do you have any idea what it feels like to look like this?!” He said, lifting up the pant leg further to reveal the deep tissue scarring. “To always have people staring, or putting you in that category of people who ‘cant’ do something just because they have a prosthesis? You never had to experience the pain. You never had to know the hurt of having to learn how to walk again. Knowing the embarrassment of having to be reliant on others to care for you for so many years?”
His fists where balled now and he was shaking. But he knew that he wouldn’t lash out physically. He had suffered the consequences of that a long time ago. At least he could control that. “You know what! f*ck you! I don’t need this sh*t.” he said, his voice lowered some, but his face was still red from the anger as he stormed towards the door again, climbing the railing and slamming it behind him.
Out in the heat of the sun, he pushed the pants of his leg down and stormed towards one of the other buildings, punching the side of the door before he walked around the other side and slumped down into a sitting position, allowing his right leg to remain on the ground, with the left pulled up to his chest. He was going to find a way out of this damn forsaken hell hole of it was the last thing he did.
Ambrose was as white as a ghost as he sat there, barely aware that Skop had left the room. Everything had happened so suddenly. He had never known a person to swap and change from moods so fast like that before in his life. He hadn’t really ever known anyone to raise their voices at all for that matter. “I...think you may have hit a sore spot.” he said quietly, in Jae’s direction.

Jae stayed calm as the man ranted at him, he didn’t flinch or step away he just let the man rant and rave all he wanted and watched ass he stormed out, he heard Ambrose’s comment and nodded.
“I reckon your right, and since it seems we are stuck here together I should probably apologize even if he is a jerk”
Jae said before nodding at the others and leaving the house to look for Skop. It took him a while but he found the man sitting outside one of the other buildings and walked slowly up to him.
“Look man what I said was harsh and I’m sorry but I’ve worked at a hospital before I’ve seen people who have no control over anything but their heads and they are perfectly sociable people man. Its nothing to be ashamed of at least you don’t have to have someone shower you and wipe your ass. You should consider yourself lucky and if you gave us all a chance you would see we are decent people too. This thing we have all been dragged into is going to be a struggle for all of us… just think about it man we will all be inside when you want to join us.”
Jae finished and walked back toward the house to join the others.

Skop nearly jumped to his feet when he heard Jae approaching him, but remained seated instead. The sooner the guy dribbled out what he wanted to say, the sooner he'd leave.
His lips pursed as he listened to what Jae was saying. He started to flick dirt off of his shoes, trying to make it look as if he was uninterested but he couldn't help but see a point in what he was saying.
They where in it together - there was no doubt about that.
But still...
Everyday he'd wake up thinking about that day at the trains, and it was the last thing he thought about when he lay his head down at night.
He heard Jae begin to walk away again and his voice caught in his throat before he got to his feet. "W..." he sighed and rubbing the back of his neck. "Wait a second."
He started to walk back towards Jae's direction, with his hands in his pockets. He knew that he was going to be beating himself up for this later.
"How do you suppose we fix our little situation, then?"

Jae turned to look the man in the face as he heard him call out to wait and he did waiting for the man to catch up with him. Jae placed his hands in his own pocket as Skop walked slowly towards him and then he heard the question that he himself had been turning over in his mind and he sighed.
“Honestly I don’t know but something DJ said clicked, Ambrose’s story is very similar to the book I read and in the book it spoke about those of arrogance and cruelty were the ones who got sick, maybe someone wants us to re-build the town without those things and somehow they used the book to give us a hint and to bring us here, but I don’t know.”
He said shaking his head for even as he said it, the prospect seemed so unlikely I mean who could make a book transport people to somewhere? Jae didn’t believe in that stuff but one thing he knew, or at least he thought he knew was that they needed to stick together.

Landon looked up with interest at Ambrose’s question to DJ in a way he thought he knew what she meant but he kept quiet waiting for her answer to it, she remained silent as she looked from one to the other then with a shrug spoke.
“Well the story I was reading before I found myself here, it spoke of a town called blackthorn where the rich and pompous had taken over driving away the poor who fled to the mountains to live then the rich all fell sick with a mysterious illness and died and the people in the mountains survived but left the town. It just seems like too much of a coincidence that’s all.”
She said with a shrug.

Skop’s nose crinkled slightly at the prospect of magical books and sickliness. It all just seemed way too far-fetched to him. He was a realist. He had always believed that if he could see something, and feel it - then and only then was it real.
Well...here he was, here they where in a town after being sucked into a book. He knew that he hadn’t been dreaming when it happened, so then that only meant one other possible scenario...this could all be really happening. But why? Why him? And why Jae? What did anyone of them possess that made them so special?
“Well, hypothetically...” he said, frowning slightly as he started to take a few slow steps towards the bunker again, “...this is all real. Right? How are five people, a parrot and a monkey going to re-build a town?”
He knew that he could do it, he worked in mechanics, and electrics, building and constructing. But he didn’t know what these people could do.
Back in the bunker Ambrose felt gooseflesh rise on his arms and the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. “Yeah, that’s what happened here. But...I’ve never heard of a book being written about it. Do you have it?” he asked. He wasn’t sure of he even wanted to see it. It was all too weird to take in all at once. One minute he was alone, the next there are people and a monkey sitting in his bunker talking about magic books. What if the sickness came again though, what if they died too?
Regardless though, he knew that what they had here was special. Maybe this book thing was the key to saving them all?

DG walked around the room trying to think and take it all in more trying to work it out in her mind, she heard Ambrose’s question about the book and shook her head.
“No I don’t my guess is that the book stayed behind probably to drag someone else here”
She said still pacing, Landon on the other hand had sat back on the ground and was picking at a scab on his hand paying very little attention to the conversation he wasn’t too concerned about how they were here. The fact was they were here, and they had to make the most of it.
“Who cares how we got here the point is we are. Lets make the best of it”
He said with his laid back attitude as he leaned against the wall.

Jae stood watching Skop’s response to his words it was obvious from his facial expressions that he was having a hard time believing any of this. Listening to his question Jae nodded he had been thinking the same thing to be honest.
“I don’t know man but maybe if we go back to the others they might have had some great idea’s”
He said with a shrug.

Ambrose’s brow furrowed slightly as he listened to DJ speak. “So you think that this book has a life of it’s own?”
He was starting to get a migraine from all of this information coming in at once. The whole concept was just ridiculous. How can any of this be happening? He was always taught, as a boy to keep an open mind about everything. That anything was possible if you believed it was. You had to take the bad with the good. But you didn’t have to accept the bad days.
His mother was the sort of person who, no matter how bad things where, would always see the world through rose colour glasses. She used to say that there was magic in the world. That he was magical to her. She was a good person, his mother. He missed her dearly…
He then heard Landons comment and smiled. At least there was someone here with the same sort of optimism as he.
“Exactly. I for one am more than happy to have you all here. And if the book wants us all to fix the town, then I think that we should. I’d love to learn allot more about it.”
Skop didn’t like the idea of trusting these people, but what choice did he have? They knew probably the worst secret he had. In truth he wasn’t that bad a guy.
By rights, he was just an angry guy.
He had his reasons for being the person he was, and doing the things he had done. It was all for his family.
“Well if we have to, I suppose. But believe me, if anyone of those people start getting to me in anyway, I will fong them.” He spoke, walking slowly.

Jae nodded he had a feeling this guy would he just hoped that the others had some idea’s also, and that they didn’t get too in this guys face as that would not be pretty at all.
“No worries, just try not to flog em to bad ok I don’t want to clean it up”
He said smiling his white teeth showing almost blindingly in contrast to his dark skin as he shook his head with a soft chuckle and walked slowly next to Skop back toward the house the others were in.

Landon grinned when Ambrose agreed with him and stood up,
“Hey dudes I had a good idea right on to me!”
He said enthusiastically and DJ couldn’t help but grin this guy was a looney he got so excited about the tiniest things, just then Mojo jumped from the counter his tail wrapping around the old light fixture in the ceiling, what a weird pet.

“Never said you had to Chief.” Skop said, and smiled a little in spite of himself when he saw the dark skinned young man grin. He had a feeling that this guy was going to be trouble for him. Not really bad trouble just…The ‘I’m going to be in your way all the time’ trouble. Spoil sport.
He entered the house first, walking down the railing, just as that guy who was sitting on the floor yelled something out about a great idea. “Congratulations, but do you think you could say that a little louder?” he said rubbing his ear. He took up a new place standing a few paces beside Landon, crossing his legs and relaxing against the wall. He was actually pretty eager to get out of this place and take a look around the town – see what he could loot maybe. There had to be some stuff around here worth salvaging or bargaining for; since he figured that money wasn’t going to be of much use here.
